    Yolanda “Yo-Yo” Whitaker Named Honorary Member Of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

    Yolanda “Yo-Yo” Whitaker has been inducted as an honorary member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. Officially joining the sisterhood earlier this month, the 53-year-old rapper , shared an excited video on Instagram wearing the sorority’s blue and white colors and other paraphernalia.

    Joining the sorority with Whitaker is highly respected figure in military medicine Telita Crosland, and innovative entrepreneur Treiva Williams. All three ladies were officially inducted on Aug. 10, 2024, as an expansion of the 2024 honorary class.

    Along with the initial 15 “ prominent and distinguished ” women, each was selected for “outstanding commitment to civic engagement and the advancement of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood.”

    The initial 15 women are as follows: Tatyana Ali, Patrice Banks, Jaspen Boothe, Brigadier General Felicia Brokaw, Caretha Coleman, Wanda Durant, Senator Andrea Hunley, Leela James, Maimah Karmo, Dr. Dawn Morton-Rias, Perri Shakes-Drayton, Ashley Sharpton, Dominique Sharpton, Angie Stone, and Representative Regina Young.

    “Zeta continues to showcase our commitment to excellence and leadership with the induction of unique and trailblazing women through undergraduate chapters , graduate chapters, and honorary membership in Alpha Omega chapter. The newest members will join Zetas worldwide as we work together to advance our communities,” detailed International First Vice President for Membership Gina Merritt-Epps, Esq.

    Now as Honorary Members, these exceptional women will have the opportunity to work closely with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in advancing its philanthropic initiatives and promoting social welfare by using their influence and expertise to enhance the organization’s ability to positively impact the communities it serves.

    Additional honorary members inducted in previous years include Esther Rolle, Sarah Vaughn, Minnie Ripperton, Chaka Khan, Anita Hill, Esq., Elisabeth Omilami, Rhona Bennett, Vivica A. Fox, Samia Nkrumah, Rashida Tlaib (U.S. Rep.), Ann Nesby, Jennie Joseph, Chrisette Michele Payne, Angel McCoughtry, and Roslyn Young-Daniels.

    Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. was founded in 1920 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. Additional notable women of the sorority include Zora Neale Hurston, Towanda and Traci Braxton, Sheryl Underwood, and Rhyne Howard.
