Tyrese Responds To Trey Songz Comparisons: “I Ain’t Never Opened For Trey; Trey Has Always Opened For Me”

Tyrese isn’t too happy about some comparing him to Trey Songz and feeling as though the two men are on the same level. So, as usual, the “ Sweet Lady ” crooner took to social media to respond.

“I ain’t never opened for Trey; Trey has always opened for me and it’s been 20 years,” said Tyrese. “Trey ain’t never seen this kinda money per concert or show. He ain’t never headlined above me and that ain’t got nothing to do with Trey. That’s not disrespect to Trey.”

The reaction stemmed from a debate where Tyrese was named third in a list of the men of R&B following Usher and Chris Brown.

Fans flooded the comments with opinions of their own regarding the two crooners.

One felt Trey Songz couldn’t compete with Tyrese because “Trey can’t sing his records live [so] convo over.” Another chimed in, “Trey had some hits but he’s no where on Tyrese level. Tyrese comes from a deeper root. This was way before Trey was even thought of.”

Another user replied, “You haven’t opened for Trey because you were already a star when Trey came out…Trey has more HIT songs by a long shot. We’ve never liked Tyrese because he had a crazy catalog…we love him cuz he’s a great singer and he sings his lil 4-5 songs amazingly.”

Meanwhile, meme queen Jasmine Masters believes “they both are in the same place.”

Trey Songz has fallen into the R&B slumps in recent years due to several allegations of sexual assault whereas Tyrese feels he’s one of the greatest R&B acts of all time.

After recreating Marvin Gaye’s 1974 performance of the National Anthem during a football game last week, Tyrese declared himself to be ” Teddy-Marvin-Donnie-Wonder-Gibson,” likening himself to Gaye, Donnie Hathaway, and Stevie Wonder.
