Gillie Da Kid took home the MVP award at the 2024 Monster Energy BIG3 Celebrity Game for the third consecutive year this past Sunday (Aug. 18).

While basking in his big feat as part of Ice Cube’s Team Webull, the Million Dollaz Worth of Game co-host spoke with VIBE, where he named his own personal “Big 3” podcasts, veteran rappers and newcomers.

Without naming his own award-nominated media outlet, he said, “I would have to say Joe Rogan, because he set the bar for how much money we could actually make in podcasting. And that changed my life. I would say N.O.R.E., I would say Joe Budden — because they was doing it before us and I didn’t even know what podcasting was — for them to open it up in an urban space, I would say that would be the big 3.”

When speaking on the Hip-Hop space, the rapper-turnt-media personality chose to name three veteran rappers who have elevated from the rap realm.

“When I look at the old-school rappers, I look at what you’ve done then and what you’re doing now. So, when you look at what Ice Cube has done then and what he’s doing now, he’s never fallen off,” he began. “He’s just leveled up. So, when people don’t put Ice Cube in the top five greatest rappers of all time, that’s like a slap in the face. He’s been here. Your mother was listening to Ice Cube, and now your mother’s kids is watching his movies. See the transition?”

He continued, “Okay. Jay-Z; he came from [rapping] to owning Roc Nation . Then probably 50 Cent. 50 Cent is a guy that’s been shot a bunch of times. He come from the gutter. He sold 10 million records. He sold more records than all of those guys and now he runs TV . Think about that. Did you ever think a guy that was from the ghetto that got shot that many times would be running TV?”

Lastly the Philly native spoke on his top picks for “new school” or rather “newer age” rappers, naming Drizzy, K. Dot, and Chicago’s own Durkio.

“I mean, he does shows four days in a row in one city,” he spoke of Drake, before adding, “then probably Kendrick and my third probably would be Lil Durk.”
