Dame Dash Says He’s Been Losing Money For Years: “I’m Proud Broke”

The Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder shared that someone asked him how he “got so broke,” and for Dash, the answer was simple. “ Investing in my dreams,” he replied in a video.

Dash continued, “When you’re investing in your dreams and you dream big , you always gon’ be broke. You’ll have a lot of sh*t, but I don’t have no money for nobody else— if that’s what you call broke, but that’s what it is.”

Dash’s supporters rallied behind his sentiment. One wrote, “They gonna hate and be in a worst off situation. Keep shining Dame!”

Another commented, “He will also die knowing he gave this world his all being able to do what he wants when he wants….. that’s freedom.” The 85 South Show saluted Dame, responding, “Wealthy people broke different than Broke broke. OG.”

Elsewhere, the father of five was praised for being “rich in character” whereas someone else said he wasn’t “broke,” but “broque.” Back in 2023, Dash described himself as a “proud broke.”

Dame Dash Offers Original Roc-A-Fella Chain To Roc-A-Fella Inc. Buyer, Under One Condition

“I’ve had to start [a] new company from scratch, without any money to start it with […] I’m like a proud broke, but it ain’t broke, because I have things to show for it,” he explained on The CEO Show .

The New York native’s resurfaced sentiment comes amid the sale of his share of Roc-A-Fella , which includes ownership of Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt .

“So if you do wanna buy one-third of Roc-A-Fella Inc., you are gonna have to bring some bread,” Dash stated in a video. “And anything over $10 million, I’m gonna sweeten the pot: you get an original Roc-A-Fella chain from off my neck.”

Dash has admitted to receiving “a lot of offers,” including “some very healthy offers,” but the sale has not been finalized.

Regardless of who he sells his share of the label to, ownership of Reasonable Doubt will be given to Hov in 2031.
