Big Sean is being accused of mimikcing Baby Keem’s rap style on his single “Yes,” as some listeners believe the song has blatant similarities to tracks previously released by Keem.

On Tuesday (Aug. 20), Big Sean released the accompanying music video to “Yes,” which is directed by Diamond Visuals and presented by Lyrical Lemonade. During the song’s hook, Big Sean chants “Yes” in a manner some equate to Baby Keem’s own delivery, as well as alternating the pitch of his flow, another trademark that Baby Keem is known for.

“We really live in a world where baby keem has 40 year old sons,” wrote one user on social media following the song’s release. While some listeners seemed unimpressed by Big Sean’s latest offering and accused him of stealing Baby Keem’s style, others argued the contrary, citing prior songs from the rapper in a similar vein as “Yes” that were released years prior to Baby Keem’s emergence.

“I feel like a glazer on the way I defend Big Sean sometimes, but the hate is so FORCED I feel like I f**king have to,” one commenter wrote. “This is literally the flow Sean has been doing for the longest time. He has a song called, “The Baddest”, that sounds similar to this. How tf this sound like Baby Keem?” they asked. “They saying this sounds like baby keem but if anything, it shows big sean got sons please remember you’re arguing with children on this app.”

Sean himself responded Wednesday night with a Tweet echoing fans, saying that those comparing him to Baby Keem must be new to his artistry.

One unique wrinkle to fans’ accusations of Big Sean biting Baby Keem is Sean’s past discord with Kendrick Lamar, whom is Baby Keem’s elder cousin and frequent collaborator. The Detroit rapper recently spoke about he and Kendrick patching things up in the aftermath of the release of Kendrick’s song “Element,” which initially contained a lyric dissing him.

“That song came out and he changed that bar, it wasn’t on the song anymore, it was a leaked verse,” Sean said of the diss. “I had to keep that in mind because I was pissed when I heard it. He changed that on his own. He probably came to the conclusion it was nothing.”

Sean says that he and Kendrick had a conversation and that the Compton rapper has since apologized. “He apologized in a sense for going that far to that sh*t coming out,” Sean told Charlamagne Tha God during their sitdown .

“When that sh*t leaks, people are like, ‘Oh, you heard what he said about you?’ I’m not a clout-chasing a** ni**a, I’m solid and I stand on mine. We already talked about it, I already got an apology for it.”
