Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” is likely not going anywhere soon, and not just due to chart success. As predicted by Joe Budden and many fans of the record earlier this year, the song has been performed by two bands representing Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) as the 2024-2025 fall sports season begins.

A video clip uploaded to X by a fan account in honor of the Compton rapper featured the Marching 100 of Florida A&M University performing a segment of the diss record to declare “Norfolk State is not like us,” in the 2024 MEAC/SEAC Challenge.

During its 2024 show reveal, Alcorn State University’s Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite and the Golden Girls played the summer anthem. Southern University’s Human Jukebox also performed “Not Like Us” at the “National Battle of the Bands 2024.

“Not Like Us” is not the only Drake diss that will shine in the fifth quarter. Jackson State’s Sonic Boom of the South performed Metro Boomin’s “BBL Drizzy” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” at the aforementioned band competition.

As of this month, the Mustard-produced song surpassed  2Pac‘s “Hit ‘Em Up” as the most streamed diss record in Spotify history. Officially released on May 4, 2024, the track peaked at No. 1 on Billboard ‘s Hot 100 chart. After trailing a few slots, remaining between No. 2 and No. 6, the song r eemerged in the top spot after an Independence Day video release.

It currently sits at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated the week of Aug. 24.
