Brandy Names Halle Bailey As Top Choice To Portray Her In Potential Biopic

Brandy Norwood has ideas on who would be best suited to portray her in an autobiographical film. Participating in a rapid-fire Q&A session for A24 Close-Up: Volume III, the R&B singer names the actress who she thinks would be perfect for the role.

“Who would I cast to play me in a movie about my life? There’s a few people that come to mind, but off the top of the dome… Halle Bailey,” revealed the 45-year-old.

The pairing, if it ever comes to fruition, would likely be a full circle moment for Bailey, who in the past has named the veteran talent as an inspiration. She detailed her honor to play The Little Mermaid, extending the legacy of Brandy as well as Anika Noni Rose as Black Disney princesses.

Brandy has also previously dished on her admiration for Halle and her sister Chloe Bailey, telling Billboard in 2020, “I see so much of myself in Halle. Oh my God.”

The Grammy winner’s session with A24 also featured her explaining her number one household rule, naming The Bodyguard as a movie she could flawlessly quote, and explaining why Jason Vorhees might be the most misunderstood horror villain of all time.

The quick interview with the Full Moon singer is in support of her upcoming film The Front Room . Due in theaters Sept. 6, 2024, the horror flick also stars Andrws Burnap and Kathryn Hunter. The official description explains the A24 film as follows:

“Everything goes to hell for newly-pregnant Belinda (Brandy) after her mother-in-law (Kathryn Hunter) moves in. As the diabolical guest tries to get her claws on the child, Belinda must draw the line somewhere…”
