On Monday (Aug. 26), Lil Baby was arrested in Las Vegas for allegedly carrying a weapon without a permit. The Atlanta rapper, who was in town to perform at James Harden’s birthday party , was taken to Clark County Detention Center and was held on $5,000 bail. He has now been released on bail and footage of the arrest has surfaced.

TMZ obtained and released a clip that captured the “Yes Indeed” rapper being detained outside of Encore Las Vegas. Lil Baby can be seen in handcuffs and yelling out to someone, “I need 200 bands. Call this number for me,” before repeatedly making the claim that he had the proper license to carry the gun and should not be getting arrested.

The outlet also provided an update from Lil Baby’s attorneys on Tuesday (Aug. 27). Drew Findling and David Chesnoff stated, “To be clear, Dominique Jones has a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit. On his behalf, we are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest in Las Vegas.”

TMZ also reported the authorities showed up because the 29-year-old spitter was caught on video being passed a gun at the venue.

Prior to this incident, Baby had better luck earlier this year. Back in June, he was named Songwriter of the Year at 2024 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.

The artist has also been very active in terms of guest appearances in 2024. He has delivered standout features on recent tracks like “ALL TEN” by Tay B, “FOREVER ROLLING” with Ye and Ty Dolla $ign, “PJ” by BossMan DLow, “What Happened” by YTB Fatt, “Choppa” by Byron Messia, the viral “BAND4BAND” by Central Cee, and more.
