Usher Stops Show To Give Free From ‘106 & Park’ Her Flowers

Usher momentarily paused the recent stop on his Past Present Future Tour, and for good reason: He saw 106 & Park’s Free. On Thursday (Aug. 29), the singer’s tour hit the TD Garden in Boston and viral videos showed off the theatrical night .

One video, in particular, featured Usher rocking a red fur coat, smoothly walking toward the front of the stage, and holding a glass of cognac. The DJ was cueing up the track for “Throwback” when the Confessions musician peeped his longtime friend front row and center. “Is that Free I see in the VIP?” he said after gesturing to the disc jockey to cut the music. TD Garden sounded a bit perplexed by what was happening before realizing they had a hometown hero in their presence.

The Garden’s audience begins roaring as Usher steps his way into the VIP section, embracing Free and putting her on the arena’s jumbotron so that her city can adequately see and praise her. After sharing a moment, the Grammy Award winner extended more graciousness by offering her a drink, to which the multimedia journalist gladly accepted.

Free took to social media to revel in her love-filled evening, posting, “About last night. Usher gave the kid so much love in the hometown! Fur and the GRILLS! Beantown I LOVE you back infinity. Thank YOU, and Goodnight.” She then followed up with multiple reposts of fans and friends telling folks to put some respect on her name and if they don’t know who the onscreen personality is—do the knowledge.

“Very Special. Very Deserved. Very Boston,” another post shared to her IG Story read. “When Usher makes ya a drink while working,” Free typed in response. She uploaded a throwback video from 106 & Park, which featured her interviewing Usher about his iconic Confessions album. “Witness genuine love last night,” she typed. “I remember this episode.”
