    Freddie Jackson Reveals Kidney Disease Diagnosis, Will “Face It With Openness And Resilience”

    Freddie Jackson has announced that he’s been diagnosed with kidney disease , but plans to use his platform and influence to help spread awareness regarding treatment and prevention.

    On Wednesday (Sept. 4), the legendary crooner shared videos across his social media accounts revealing the news, explaining his reasoning behind being open about his current condition in such a public manner.

    “After a lot of thought and reflection, I’ve come to a point where I feel I’m ready to talk about a recent chapter in my life,” Jackson, began. “This journey has had its challenges, but I’ve decided to face it with openness and resilience.”

    The 67-year-old insisted that he plans to use his ongoing health battle as an example of perseverance and resilience for himself and others. “It’s important to me that I share this with you, not just as a part of my personal story, but as a way to make a positive difference,” he said.

    Jackson also revealed that he has partnered with the National Kidney Foundation, a collaboration he hopes will “help shine a light on the importance of this issue” and educate the masses. “As I take this step, I’m turning my personal experience into a platform for greater understanding and advocacy,” Jackson said of the endeavor.

    “With your help, we can work towards better awareness and improved outcomes for everyone with kidney disease.”

    A two-time Grammy Award nominee, Jackson is best known for the hits “Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake),” “Have You Ever Loved Somebody,” “Jam Tonight,” “Do Me Again,” and his signature song, “You Are My Lady.” He won an American Music Award in the Favorite Soul / Rhythm & Blues Single category for his 1988 single, “Nice ‘N’ Slow.”
