Monique Rodriguez, founder and CEO of Mielle Organics, addressed recent controversy surrounding the brand after customers accused the now- Procter & Gamble owned beauty brand of causing hair loss and other extensive hair damage.

On Saturday (Sept. 7), Rodriguez issued a video statement on the matter — assuring consumers that over the past decade, there haven’t been any changes to products including the popular Rosemary and Mint Hair Oil .

“My whole family and myself are avid users of Mielle […] because we believe in the power of our products. So, when I made the decision to partner with P&G, it was driven by my vision to take Mielle to new heights, and become a global beauty brand . That vision remains as strong as ever today,” she explained.

Rodriguez continued, “I am so grateful for the opportunities this partnership has brought us. This partnership has allowed us to expand our reach, and make a positive impact in the world.” She praised the brand for its community reach and prided Mielle for being the first “textured hair care partner of the WNBA.”

Noting, “My involvement in Mielle still is a personal choice. I’m deeply committed to staying actively involved in every aspect of the brand.” The Chicago native confirmed that Mielle’s products are “created with healthy ingredients and are formulated to deliver safe and effective results.”

She urged customers to compare ingredients on products from 2019 to now as she affirmed that her January 2023 deal with P&G didn’t affect the products’ formulas.

Several customers felt that Rodriguez’s statement glossed over allegations of hair loss, scalp irritation, and extensive breakage and took to the comments of her video to say so.

“You didn’t address the issue: people’s hair is falling out so if the formula hasn’t changed WHY have the results? Check the factory cleanliness & gather the batch numbers of the products people have. There is an issue and skating over it isn’t the answer,” one wrote.

Another replied, “I can tell she’s reading a script, but I hope for some resolution” as someone else chimed in, “I love Mielle but I can’t lie where my hair has once flourished has now become brittle & thinning in the past year.”

Others defended Mielle and Rodriguez saying that those experiencing hair loss and related issues shouldn’t blame these products.

Yet for Rodriguez, she captioned the statement, “10 years later, my vision and commitment to our mavens and mavericks remains the same: delivering safe, effective, and high quality products for all of you.”

This woman is delusional if she thinks her products still contain the same ingredients as when she owned and operated it. When you sell your company you don't have the quality control you used to have so she don't know what those ppl added to those products! Pictures don't lie, lots of ppl with proof of hair loss due to those products now pay up
