Tank continues the Chris Brown versus Michael Jackson talent debate, doubling down on his stance that the former has bested the King Of Pop. Speaking on the One Song podcast with hosts Diallo Riddle and Blake “LUXXURY” Robin, the R&B singer further explained his viral statements exclaiming Chris Brown is, in fact, better than Michael Jackson,” made last month.

“You’ve said some wild stuff recently,” Riddle said to Tank. He responded, “Yes, I am a wild sayer,” before the topic was revealed in a clip shared from the conversation.

“I said it with my chest,” exclaimed Tank when confronted with his controversial opinion. “The only piece that I will probably retract [is] that I said that Chris was a better songwriter. I want to take that part… I want to scale that part back. I think in terms of songwriting, they’re equally as great,” he added, noting both Chris Brown and Michael Jackson’s individual writing credits of their hit records.

“He didn’t write ‘Thriller,’” Tank added, noting Rod Temperton’s talent. “Michael had the best of the best at all times, but that started because he was such a prodigy of a human being. He was already something special by the age of nine… The resources that were available to him were just unlimited.”

Tank continued to clarify his argument adding, “If we’re going gift for gift, I believe Chris Brown is a better singer… no one will ever be greater than Michael Jackson. We will never scratch the surface.”

The One Song podcast airs exclusively for SiriusXM subscribers on Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Radio on Wednesday nights at 6 p.m. ET and is released as a podcast on Thursday mornings. Each episode is described as featuring the hosts “hilariously breaking down one song from the pop music canon that you know – or need to know – but have never heard quite like this.”
