Diddy’s Attorney Responds To Dawn Richard’s Lawsuit, Believes She’s Only Seeking A “Pay Day”

Dawn Richard became the latest person to accuse Sean “Diddy” Combs off physical, verbal, and sexual abuse in the form of a lawsuit filed on Tuesday (Sept. 10).

Combs has since responded to the filing through his attorney, Erica Wolff.

“Mr. Combs is shocked and disappointed by this lawsuit,” the statement read. “In an attempt to rewrite history, Dawn Richard has now manufactured a series of false claims all in the hopes of trying to get a pay day — conveniently timed to coincide with her album release and press tour.”

Combs added, “If Ms. Richard had such a negative experience with Making the Band and Danity Kane, she would not have chosen to continue working directly with Mr. Combs for Dirty Money, nor would she have returned for the Making the Band reboot in 2020 or agreed to be featured on The Love Album last year. It’s unfortunate that Ms. Richard has cast their 20-year friendship aside to try and get money from him, but Mr. Combs is confidently standing on truth and looks forward to proving that in court.”

In Richard’s 65-page lawsuit , she claimed she was subjected to “ inhumane working conditions which included groping, assault, and false imprisonment,” and detailed how she reportedly witnessed the Bad Boy Records founder physically abuse his ex-girlfriend, Casandra “ Cassie ” Ventura on numerous occasions.

Richard and her Dirty Money bandmate, Kalenna Harper , allegedly attempted to intervene and help Ventura once, but Combs allegedly threatened them by stating, “Y’all b**ches don’t get in my relationship; Don’t tell my b**ch what she need to be doing. Just make money and shut the f**k up. I end artists . I shelve careers. I make n****s go missing. You b**ches want to die today?”

The former Danity Kane member credited Ventura’s “bravery in coming forward” as the catalyst that helped her realize “her own personal suffering was tied to many years of abuse by Combs that had become normalized for her.”
