Boston Celtics guard Derrick White had the summer of a lifetime , but even he isn’t exempt from what can come from rabid fans and college football rivalries. Footage surfaced online of the 30-year-old hooper being struck in the head during an argument at the Colorado-Colorado State football game .

An eye witness to the altercation told TMZ Sports that the Colorado alumnus got into it with Colorado State fans in the second quarter of the football game. The tension became physical in the third quarter when, as seen in the video, White was on the receiving end of a spinning back fist.

Fans and police officers got in between the tussling parties and kept White from returning any blows. TMZ Sports reported that there hasn’t been a police report filed. White also hasn’t spoken about the incident in any capacity.

Colorado went on to defeat Colorado State 28-9 in a rematch of their classic 2023 matchup, which Colorado won in double overtime. In their recent clash, Shedeur Sanders threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns. Travis Hunter, their two-way standout player, caught two of Sanders’ touchdown passes and an interception. Sanders went viral for refusing to shake the opposing quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi’s hands after the game, telling him “You can’t f**k with me.”

This victory ought to alleviate any pain that Derrick White endured from being struck, along with his many accomplishments over the last few months. He was an important part of the Boston Celtics winning the 2024 NBA Finals, their first ring since 2008. White was awarded a four-year, $125.9 million extension soon after the championship victory.

After Kawhi Leonard withdrew from the 2024 USA Men’s Olympic basketball team, White was added to the roster and played a crucial role in the USA’s men’s team winning another gold medal.
