Rich Homie Quan Releases First Posthumous Track “Song Cry”

Rich Homie Quan has been gone for just under two weeks and fans already have new music from the late Atlanta artist . He released his first posthumous track “Song Cry” this week.

New Details Emerge Regarding Rich Homie Quan's Death

The track’s cover art shows the “Lifestyle” rapper sporting a green and Black silk blazer with birds surrounding him, often used to signify someone who has passed into the afterlife. The actual record is deeply personal and he even acknowledged that fans often didn’t take his music seriously.

“I had to put on my shades to hide these tears/ And I don’t pop on the gram ’cause that’s how guys get killed/ Let me roll my weed so I can fake my feelings/ This lifestyle I live, real, I can’t fake this here,” he crooned in the chorus. “This a song cry/ I know you hear that sh*t/ Listen to the song cry/ You gotta feel that sh*t,” Quan added in the post-chorus. In his verse, he raps about seeing his homie die, being in a “sticky situation” in Canada, and more outpouring of his emotions.

Rich Homie Quan passed away earlier this month. He was found unresponsive in his home and his cause of death is currently unknown, though an autopsy was recently conducted. His funeral will take place on Tuesday (Sept. 17) in College Park, Ga.

Fox 5 Atlanta reported that they anticipate a large turnout and police have shut down multiple roads in advance. Fans can attend the viewing and celebration of life by purchasing tickets here . After the funeral, a party will be held in Quan’s honor at The Bank, a venue in Atlanta.

Rich Homie Quan was best known for his hit singles “Type A Way,” “Flex,” and “Lifestyle” with Young Thug. He earned one award nomination from iHeartRadio and BET, plus four BET Hip-Hop Awards nominations.
