The man who was found guilty of sending his teenage son to rob and kill PnB Rock, real name Rakim Allen, has received a lengthy sentence. On Monday (Sept. 23) in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Judge Connie Quinones handed down a sentence of 31 years to life to Freddie Lee Trone for his participation in the murder per the Associated Press.

“I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Rakim Allen,” shared District Attorney George Gascón in a statement. “His life was cut short by an act of violence that no family should have to endure.”

Trone’s attorney, Winston McKesson, shared his disagreement with the sentencing, adding that his 42-year-old client did not have anything to do with planning the crime and was not aware that his son was armed. He is firm that the jury violated the judge’s instructions and plans to appeal.

Last month , Trone was convicted of felony murder, robbery, and conspiracy . Additionally, Tremont Jones, who was accused of notifying Trone and his son of the musician’s location was found guilty of two counts of second-degree robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery and received a 12-year prison sentence, per Deadline. The 46-year-old was not charged with murder.

PnB Rock was shot and killed in September 2022 while dining at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles in South Los Angeles. The alleged gunman entered the establishment and approached the Philadelphia native demanding his diamond chains. When PnB Rock declined, he was shot once in the chest and twice in the back, and stripped of his jewelry.

Trone’s now-19-year-old son was also charged with murder and is in the custody of the juvenile system. The judge has found the alleged triggerman incompetent to stand trial.
