The late night TV host started by attempting to clarify a rumor that Michael Jackson once requested Babyface to ask Berry out on a date on his behalf. The actress countered by telling a story about the time Prince asked her out in a wholesome way.

She began by saying it was “sort of” in person. “I was at one of his concerts here on Sunset at the Key Club. He had somebody come out with a piece of paper. You know how kids do, ‘Do you like me? Yes or no?’ I went, ‘Yes.’ I mean, I’m at his concert! Then it comes back out [reading], ‘Will you go out with me?'” Berry paused as the crowd laughed at her expression. “I didn’t send the paper back.”

Halle Berry is currently making her rounds during her press tour for her new movie Never Let Go, which is now playing in theaters.

In the Lionsgate film, Berry plays the mom of twin boys, who faces an evil spirit attempting to disrupt their livelihood. “Needing to stay connected at all times – even tethering themselves with ropes – they cling to one another, urging each other to never let go. But when one of the boys questions if the evil is real, the ties that bind them together are severed, triggering a terrifying fight for survival,” the synopsis reads.

Speaking of taking on the new role, Berry told The Hollywood Reporter , “Since I became a mother 16 years ago, playing these kinds of roles has wildly excited me. With this movie, it reminded me how I would protect my children with my life. We often say, ‘I would take a bullet for my kids.’ Would you take a knife for your kids?” View the trailer below and the interview above.
