One of the gunmen allegedly responsible for Young Dolph’s murder claims that rival rapper Yo Gotti’s record label paid for his legal fees in return for carrying out the alleged “hit” on the late rap star.

Cornelius Smith, one of the men charged with Young Dolph’s murder, took the stand on Wednesday (Sept. 26), and alleged that someone from Yo Gotti’s record label, Collective Music Group , retained an attorney to represent him following his arrest.

While Smith could not identify the person who paid for his lawyer, he was adamant that it was done by someone affiliated with CMG. “I don’t know exactly who,” he said when asked to name who paid out the $50,000 his lawyer reportedly cost. “I didn’t get it in my hand.”

This is not the first time Yo Gotti or his record label have been tied to Young Dolph’s murder. Earlier this week, Shelby County Assistant District Attorney Paul Hagerman accused Gotti’s late brother and CMG executive Big Jook of placing a $100,000 bounty on his brother’s adversary.

“Big Jook, the person I told you about before, the number two guy at CMG, he’s put out a hit, $100,000 to whoever kills Dolph,” Hagerman said. “He has met with Justin (Johnson). He has met with Cornelius (Smith) and they think they’re ready to do it.”

Smith has also claimed that he helped commit Dolph’s murder under the belief he would receive $40,000 for the crime. However, he says he only received a total of $800 for the alleged hit, first through a $500 payment and a second of $300.

Young Dolph was gunned down in November 2021 while visiting a local cookie shop in his hometown of Memphis. The hitmaker was ambushed by two gunmen, later identified as Smith and his codefendant, Justin Johnson, and suffered multiple gunshot wounds during the attack.

Smith, who pled guilty to his role and the crime, has testified against Johnson . Johnson faces charges that include first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Johnson has maintained his innocence and did not testify during the trial.

Don't think gotti will be returning to Memphis or doing any shows or annual birthday events here anymore. If he know whats good. Any of CMG probably need to stay away.

There is no way Yo Gotti didn't have any knowledge and involvement in Young Dolphs murder. There is no way his dead brother could offer that kind of money for that kind of crime without discussing it with the big boss. Impossible!!!
