Nelly Reunites With St. Lunatics For Performance At 2024 AMAs Special

In a night that had Hip-Hop fans buzzing, Nelly brought the house down at the 2024 American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special with a surprise reunion featuring the St. Lunatics.

The St. Louis legend kicked off the set with a high-energy performance of “Air Force Ones,” joined by St. Lunatics member Kyjuan. As the crowd roared, Nelly seamlessly transitioned into “Ride Wit Me” alongside City Spud, reminding everyone why this anthem has stood the test of time.

Next up was Murphy Lee, who joined Nelly to perform “Welcome To Atlanta (Remix),” sending the audience into a frenzy. The energy didn’t let up as they followed it up with Murphy’s own 2003 hit, “What The Hook Gon’ Be?”—a track that still resonates with fans.

But the surprises didn’t end there. Nelly then called upon fellow St. Louis sensation Chingy, who brought the crowd to its feet with his 2003 hit “Right Thurr.” Just when it seemed the night couldn’t get any better, Nelly summoned J-Kwon to deliver his infectious 2005 smash “Tipsy,” further solidifying St. Louis’s impact on the Hip-Hop scene.

Nelly and the St. Lunatics’ reunion at the AMAs comes amid a legal battle between the two sides regarding a copyright dispute concerning Nelly’s 2001 debut, Country Grammar . According to the suit, the St. Lunatics claim that Nelly repeatedly vowed to credit and compensate the group for their work on the album, including the tracks “Batter Up,” “Steal the Show,” and the album’s title track, “Country Grammar.”

However, the group alleges that Nelly’s promise never materialized , resulting in the members taking legal action against their former collaborator.
