Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg continue their foray into the alcoholic beverage market with the official launch of the new product, STILL G.I.N. By Dre And Snoop .
The pair’s latest spirit brand , described as “ultra-premium” and “defiantly smooth,” takes inspiration from two of their signature collaborations, Snoop Dogg’s “Gin and Juice” and Dr. Dre’s “Still D.R.E.” According to Dre, he and Snoop were heavily involved in the creation of STILL G.I.N., from conception to manufacturing.
“This is not a liquor that we’re just putting our name on,” the 59-year-old said in a press statement. “It’s just like we did with Beats headphones. Everything is us from the ground up: the gin, the flavor, the packaging… Everything had to be perfect.
“Snoop said it best: we’re better together – it’s always magical. It’s incredible to know that you’ve got something amazing that you feel is gonna really work. From the look to the taste, it’s all there.”
Crediting gin with helping fuel their creative chemistry over the years, Snoop Dogg says their decision to create their own brand was a no-brainer. “Every day in the studio when Dre and I were trying to make the dopest music, we were drinking gin and just having fun,” Snoop Dogg said.
“We’ve been a part of the evolution of this gin – from the creation of the flavor, to the percentage of alcohol that’s in it – and it’s just so good! Dre’s a perfectionist: he wants to make sure it’s not just good, but great. Together, we ain’t gonna do nothing regular!”
Echoing those sentiments, On The Rocks Cocktails Chief Strategy Officer and co-founder Andrew Gill spoke on their partnership with the two Hip-Hop legends, as well as what consumers can expect from the product.
“Dre and Snoop were involved in every step – from the bottle design down to getting the perfect harmony of botanical notes and smooth mouth feel into each sip,” said Gill.
“Focusing on the complexity of balancing all-natural botanicals, we blended the spice, botanical, and garden ingredients until we had exactly the right profile – one that appeals to a wide variety of palates, but complex enough to satisfy the most sophisticated gin expert. Together, what we came up with with Dre and Snoop was the gin we’ve always wanted to make.”
The name STILL G.I.N. was created by combining parts of the titles of “Gin and Juice” and “Still D.R.E.,” which were released in 1993 and 1999, respectively. “Gin and Juice,” produced by Dr. Dre, was the second single released from Snoop Dogg’s solo debut, Doggystyle , and peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Several years later, the duo reunited for “Still D.R.E.,” the Snoop-assisted lead-single from Dre’s 1999 album, 2001. The song was a marginal hit upon its initial release, but has grown in popularity and fanfare over the decades, most notably following Dre and Snoop’s performance of the song during the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2022.
Earlier this year, Dre, Snoop, ad On The Rocks unleashed Gin & Juice By Dre and Snoop, a brand of canned premium gin-based cocktails comprised of four flavors: Citrus, Melon, Passionfruit, and Apricot.
