Welp, it looks like Chris Brown isn’t too concerned with recent attempts to get his upcoming shows in South Africa — which sold out in under two hours — cancelled.

Following news of South African organization Women for Change petitioning against the star taking the stage at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium, the Virginia native took to the group’s Instagram page with a simple message: “Can’t wait to come,” followed by a heart emoji.

The organization campaigned against the star performing due to his “history of violence,” claiming that his show will “send the wrong message” to South African citizens, the BBC reports.

“When I saw the news that Chris Brown was coming to South Africa, I was shocked and deeply disappointed,” stated Sabina Walter, executive director of Women for Change . “The petition was started to send a strong message that we will not tolerate the celebration of individuals with a history of violence against women .”

She added, “When someone like Chris Brown is given a platform in a country where GBV is at crisis levels, it sends a damaging message – that fame and power outweigh accountability.”

Brown’s most notable instance of GBV was in his relationship with ex-girlfriend, Rihanna. A then 19-year-old Brown pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to five years probation, community service and domestic violence counseling. Rihanna also forgave the singer and they dated again briefly after the assault. Brown has also faced accusations of violence from others throughout the years.

While Brown’s past is enough to convince organizers to petition the star, plenty of South African fans are still looking forward to seeing the entertainer wow the diverse crowd in December.

“We are waiting on you sir,” wrote one fan beneath Brown’s comment, with another adding, “Tickets are secured, lessss gooo.” Check out the full post below.
