Former Lake Area Attorney Arrested in Miller County

An attorney that used to service the lake area has been arrested in Miller County, Missouri. Christian Joseph Rassmussen, 47, of Tuscumbia, has been charged with

four counts of driving while suspended-1st offense, three counts of no insurance, two counts of failing to display plates, two counts of expired plates, and three counts of defective equipment. A $1840 cash bond has been set. He was arrested in Pulaski County on the night of Thursday, September 5, 2024. He was put in custody with the Miller County Sheriff’s Department. 

Rasmussen was also arrested in February 2024 in Miller County for failure to address 13 traffic tickets.

Rasmussen was once a respected attorney serving clients in that same Miller County Circuit Court. But, in 2021, Rasmussen was censured, and his license to practice law from his office with Martin & Rasmussen in Lake Ozark was suspended in 2022 stemming from colleague complaints to the Missouri Bar of failure to timely communicate, failure to safeguard the confidentiality of client information, and the use of methamphetamine. He then lost his license to operate a vehicle. 

According to court documents, on August 19, 2024 Rasmussen was charged with failure to appear in court with a warrant issued on a $1000 bond and the court scheduled a hearing to revoke his probation on a Driving While Revoked Misdemeanor Charge from the Missouri Highway Patrol Troop I- Rolla, Missouri. He was granted a Suspended Issue of Sentence (SIS) on a guilty plea in that case from August 2023 with 6 months probation with a start date of April 2024. A summons was issued on that warrant of the probation violation on August 29, 2024, and Rasmussen failed to appear.
