National Military Park hosts Symphony at Sunset (with photo gallery)

For the 12th year, the Vicksburg National Military Park played host to the Symphony at Sunset concert Saturday at dusk.

Featuring the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and presented by the Friends of Vicksburg National Military Park, Four Seasons of the Arts and Vicksburg National Military Park, the concert began with the national anthem, as the presentation coincides with this year’s Memorial Day events in Vicksburg, and featured selections ranging from “Armed Forces Salute” to music from “Star Wars.”

Prior to Saturday’s concert, Friends of Vicksburg National Military Park Executive Director Bess Averett told the large crowd gathered for the show that it would not be possible for the event to have existed for more than a decade with the community’s support, including yearly sponsors.

This year’s sponsors include: Golding Barge Line; Ergon; Batesville Casket; Advance Drainage Systems; International Paper; H&M Promotional Products; CED Vicksburg; Monument Financial Partners; Waring Oil Company LLC; and FALCO Chemical.
