The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has been distinguished as a 2023 World Class Workplace, affirming its commitment to excellence and innovation in public service. This esteemed recognition was conferred based on the results of the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS), administered by the Department of Commerce and the Office of Personnel Management.

The FEVS serves as a gauge of employees’ perceptions regarding the presence of conditions characteristic of successful organizations within their agency. Through this survey, employees are asked to articulate their experiences, providing insights into various areas such as work environment, agency culture, and leadership effectiveness.

Colonel Christopher Klein, commander of the USACE Vicksburg District, said the distinction is important for USACE.

“With this recognition comes great responsibility,” Klein said. “It is a recognition that is earned. It is imperative as leaders that we continually improve the organization and create opportunities so that every employee has the tools needed to accomplish the mission safely, and that every employee continues to grow to their full potential.”

The Partnership for Public Service, a nonpartisan and nonprofit organization committed to promoting excellence in government, emphasizes the pivotal role of employee engagement and leadership in driving organizational success. By recognizing agencies like USACE as World Class Workplaces, the Partnership acknowledges their exemplary performance in cultivating a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

As a key pillar of the nation’s infrastructure, the Vicksburg District plays a pivotal role in safeguarding communities, enhancing resilience, and supporting economic prosperity and provides essential public services such as hydropower, water supply, and recreation, USACE officials said, adding the agency’s recognition as a 2023 World Class Workplace underscores its unwavering commitment to excellence and service to the nation.
