A Vicksburg couple found themselves in jail over the weekend after a traffic stop yielded drugs and a stolen weapon.

According to information from the Vicksburg Police Department (VPD), officers stopped a black Nissan sedan for speeding Friday at 9:44 p.m. near the intersection of Porter’s Chapel Road and Indiana Avenue.

VPD said a search of the vehicle revealed 17 pills that resembled hydrocodone and a stolen Glock 9mm firearm. Arrested at the scene were Conti Tillis, 31, and Christianna Howard, 28. Tillis is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a stolen firearm; Howard faces a charge of possession of a stolen firearm.

Both suspects appeared in Vicksburg Municipal Court Monday before Judge Angela Carpenter. Tillis saw his bond set at $70,000; Howard’s bond was set at $5,000. Both were bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.
