Governor Little Needs to Show Courage in the Face of Wildfires
The Wapiti Fire doubled in size over the weekend. Evacuations were underway in Idaho’s central highlands. People are grabbing a few clothes and medicines and fleeing. They may have nothing to return to when it’s over. My troubles in life are minor in comparison. In a post last Friday I made it clear this didn’t need to happen. People dictate forest management in a far-away national capital, and they’re listening to limousine liberals with no clue about life in Idaho, which is why there’s so little national news coverage about our plight.
250 U.S. Army soldiers from Lewis-McChord join effort fighting Idaho’s West Mountain Complex fires
BOULDER FIRE, BOISE NATIONAL FOREST – Up since 5 a.m., U.S. Army First Lt. Andrew Harvey’s cheeks and yellow fire-resistant shirt are streaked with ash as he walks a grid pattern along the fire line, searching for any signs of heat. It’s Harvey’s first time fighting a real wildfire, and he wouldn’t rather be anywhere […]

It will warm up before the next front moves in
CBS2 Boise — We had a taste of autumn over the weekend. On Saturday, the high was only 69 degrees. That was almost 20 degrees cooler than normal for this time of the year. Even Sunday was about 10 degrees below normal. This was thanks to a trough of low pressure that moved through the state. However, we are still in s summer pattern and that means temperatures can warm rapidly given the high sun angle in August. As a result, a warming trend will move into the area on Monday. Look for lots of sunshine this week with highs reaching the mid 80's on Monday. This will be followed by temperatures in the low 90's on Tuesday! We'll call that the warm before the next cold front that moves in on Wednesday.
Idaho doesn’t produce energy like it used to. How drought, renewables are changing our landscape
Originally published Aug. 21 on IdahoCapitalSun.com. In 2009, hydroelectricity made up 80% of the electricity generated in Idaho. Last year, that number was 49%, according to reports from the Idaho Office for Energy and Mineral Resources. Drought is one factor contributing to the change in how much hydropower is a part of Idaho’s grid, but there are other aspects of the state’s energy landscape to consider, experts say. ...
Idaho Home Prices Have Dropped the Most in The Nation
Ah, the good ole days when Idaho's housing market was the envy of the nation. It's a challenge to describe the housing frenzy as thousands of Americans moved to Idaho, buying homes sight unseen. If you remember the days of the Oregon Trail, it was reminiscent of the gold rush.
