LAWRENCE — Jonathan Wallace didn’t want to give away too much recently, after another fall camp practice. More typical August weather for the mid-point of the month
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The day is starting with some showers over Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas. These are pushing eastward toward South Central Nebraska and North Central Kansas. Most of the rain that we see will occur near or south of Interstate 80 with chances much lower as you go to the north. Later this morning and into this afternoon, there may be a few stronger storms, but severe weather will likely be isolated in southern areas. Very isolated large hail and severe wind gusts are possible. For most of the area, high temperatures will reach the mid to upper 80s to near 90°. I wouldn’t rule out some cooler temperatures in the south where rain could stick around. Most of that rain will clear out to the southeast late this afternoon or early this evening. Much of the area will see mostly clear skies tonight. There is a low-end chance of a rogue thunderstorms overnight into early tomorrow with the best chance over northern areas. Lows will dip back to the upper 50s and low to mid 60s.
Chance for severe storms today
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - It’s another mild and muggy morning before our attention turns to the risk for severe storms across Kansas this afternoon. Expect partly cloudy skies and highs to climb to the low 90s this afternoon. The higher humidity will make the heat index around 100. Storm...

If you're sending your child off to college, there are so many things to remember, but Shawn Steward with AAA Kansas knows that there are some things you can be prepared for. "A couple of things that people may not think about are insurance coverage, both homeowners, renters, and auto insurance," Steward said. "Also having a plan for vehicle maintenance or if something happens to the vehicle for a breakdown, for example. Those are two things that we urge college students and their parents to think about."
INSIGHT KANSAS: If Kansas politics were in the Olympics
