Free music for the High Desert: Live DJ set at Santa Fe Trading Co. this Friday, July 26

Dust off the running man and bring the shuffling moves out of the closet for the High Desert's next free music event this Friday, July 26.

Drop it like it's hot in this Friday's 100-degree weather at the Bass Candy mini rave event. The event starts at 8 p.m., ensuring the coolest possible atmosphere for dub stepping in the desert heat.

A six-DJ line up will mix EDM, bass, and house music on A Street in downtown Victorville directly behind the Santa Fe Trading Company.

One DJ to be showcased at the event, Mike Castillo otherwise known as TripDaMouse, will set the tone with his bass and drum set. Other live DJ sets will embrace the rave vibes, contrasted by outdoor lounge house music.

Camac Macam has helped set up Bass Candy events in the past.

"We'll have a really good sound system and pretty cool lighting with lasers," Macam said. "It's a free event and the organizer does a strictly out-of-pocket budget for the benefit of the community. We just want to be all-inclusive and bring in good people who love the music."

    Logistics

Parking can be found directly in front of the event on A Street. There is free parking and free entry according to Joshua Bragg York, creator and promoter of the event.

There will be vendors selling jewelry and other artwork, as well as food and drinks available for purchase. Doors open at 7 p.m. and music is from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

York is throwing the show to help elevate the EDM scene in the High Desert because there "isn't a lot of EDM available out here," he says.

He's been putting on similar shows in the area for the past two years in Victorville and Apple Valley, all focusing on local DJs and heavy bass music like Dubstep, Riddim, Techno, Tech House, Bass House, Drum and Bass, Jungle, and Trap music.
