Hesperia issues online survey to gather public input on General Plan updates

Hesperia city officials have launched an online survey seeking public opinion on upcoming changes to the city's General Plan, which will include a new element on environmental justice.

The survey, which can be accessed at surveymonkey.com/r/HesperiaEJSurvey , will be open through June 30, officials said.

It asks for opinions on a wide range of topics, including pollution, public facilities, housing issues, land designation, transportation and safety.

"We want to hear about your experiences and concerns that affect you and your family's ability to live in a safe and healthy environment," according to a statement accompanying the survey. "Your responses to this survey will help the city formulate policies to be included in the General Plan, which will guide future programs and decisions aimed at reducing pollution and improving health and the environment in Hesperia."

A new section on environmental justice is being added to comply with state law.

"While the city has continued to support community health and wellbeing for many years, new state laws require cities to expand their efforts and further environmental justice goals," the statement said.
