Despite a tidal wave of rumors, the Apple Valley Walmart is not closing, employees said.

After celebrating the remodeling of its Walmart Supercenter in Victorville, company officials are looking to give its Apple Valley store a major facelift.

Walmart officials announced Monday that remodeling construction has begun at the Walmart at 20251 Highway 18 in Apple Valley.

The major remodeling project is expected to bring a fresh, modern shopping experience to the heart of Apple Valley, company officials stated.

    The remodeling project includes:

    • A newly renovated and expanded pharmacy
    • A brand-new community-focused mural
    • New signage and displays
    • Newly renovated restrooms
    • A brand-new mother’s room

One of many scheduled remodels for California in 2024, the work is part of the company's commitment to invest in the communities it serves.

Following the project, which will take several weeks to complete, Walmart associates in Apple Valley will host a community celebration to show off its new “in-store experience.”

In addition to the remodel, the Apple Valley Walmart will continue offering innovations like in-store pickup, contact-free delivery, and Walmart Pay for a touch-free payment experience. These services are designed to save customers time and money, enabling them to shop how, when, and where they prefer.

Store employees told the Daily Press that they've been asked daily if the Apple Valley Walmart is closing. The response has always been, "No, we are not closing, just remodeling."

I prefer not shopping at Walmart, Apple Valley. I was literally made to feel like a criminal/thief at the self check out, when an associate say a large picnic table in my cart. He immediately come over to me & said, "let me help you". He only scanned the barcode of the table, as if to suggest I was planning to not scan the table & steal it. I felt a bit humiliated. This happened 6 months ago & I haven't been back there since, I always go to the Target store instead. Target generally costs a bit more, but I don't mind because at least I'm not made to feel like a thief, plus the store is cleaner & less crowded🙂

We have too many people coming to Apple valley it no longer a town. We need a Super Walmart!! More shopping centers and food variety. I go to the store and they are out of everything. So then I have to go to the Super Walmart there. To get my stuff because even target runs out of things. It’s ridiculous. Lived here for 20 years. Still the same.
