    Hesperia Recreation and Park District to break ground on solar projects

    The Hesperia Recreation and Park District will break ground on several new solar projects.

    The solar projects will help reduce the carbon footprint and help the environment, park district officials stated.

    Groundbreaking ceremonies are scheduled at the following locations:

    • Rick Novack Community Center at 13558 Palm St. at 8 a.m. on Aug. 26
    • Percy Bakker Community Center at 9333 E Ave. at noon on Aug. 26.
    • Lime Street Community Center at 16292 Lime St. at 9 a.m. on Sept. 3.
    • The Epicentre at 17508 Hercules St., at 9 a.m. on Sept. 16
    • Hesperia Community Park at 10200 Datura Rd. at 9 a.m. on Sept. 30.

    Solar power can be used for many different purposes, including water, lighting, electricity and heating. Harnessing solar energy helps make the electrical grid more resilient as well as lowers electric electrical costs, officials stated.
