Victorville man arrested in connection with deadly hit-and-run

Investigators arrested a Victorville man early Friday in connection with a fatal hit and run earlier in the week, officials said.

David Anthony Campo, 42, was arrested shortly after midnight and booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials and booking records.

The deadly collision took place shortly before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday along Mesa View Road, just north of Olivine Road, authorities said at the time.

A late-model, blue Nissan 350Z struck a pedestrian and continued on without stopping to provide help, the sheriff's department said in a written statement .

The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but was soon pronounced dead.

The investigation led deputies to identity Campo as the alleged driver, officials said.

He was released from custody pending legal proceedings later the same day after posting bail, booking records show.

The identity of the pedestrian, who was initially described only as male, was not available Friday pending notification of family, sheriff's officials said. His age and city of residence were also not released.
