Man arrested in Big Bear Lake child molestation investigation accused of abusing 14-year-old

A Van Nuys man has been arrested on suspicion of molesting a 14-year-old victim in Big Bear Lake last month, authorities said.

The investigation began Tuesday, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

"A father reported that his 14-year-old child was molested while on vacation in Big Bear Lake," the agency said in a written statement .

The alleged crime took place on July 6 in the 39300 block of Big Bear Boulevard , officials said.

After an "extensive investigation," deputies said they identified the suspect as Jesler Martinez Peralta. An arrest warrant was issued for Martinez Peralta.

The 25-year-old man was arrested at his Van Nuys home shortly before 11 a.m., according to San Bernardino County booking records.

Bail was set at $100,000 pending an initial court appearance.
