    Vote for the Victorville Chevrolet High School Athlete of the Week

    Nine athletes from across the High Desert are in the running for the Victorville Chevrolet High School Athlete of the Week.

    Daily Press readers can vote for their favorite high school athletes at the newspaper's website.

    The poll closes on Wednesday night.

    Here are the choices for the week, based on performances from Sept. 2 to 7.

    • Ava De Ville, Apple Valley volleyball — The freshman had a big week for the Sun Devils. On Sept. 3, De Ville led the team to a 3-0 victory over Carter with six kills with three aces and two digs. In a 3-2 loss to Oak Hills on Sept. 5 De Ville had nine kills with three aces and six digs. In the Scorpion Classic, De Ville helped lead Apple Valley into the championship game and tallied 26 kills, 22 digs and two aces throughout the tourney.
    • Bridgette Fuller, Excelsior volleyball — Fuller racked up 19 kills in two victories for the Eagles last week. In a 3-1 victory over CIMS on Sept. 5, Fuller led with 10 kills, 29 digs and an ace. She began the week with nine kills, four aces and 10 digs in a 3-0 victory over Riverside Prep on Sept. 3.
    • Dwayne Williams, Barstow football — Williams threw a pair of touchdown passes as the Aztecs blanked Indio 35-0 on Sept. 6. Williams threw the scoring passes to Kenny Benavidez and Gavin Hall. He completed seven passes for 68 yards, and also added 41 rushing yards.
    • Issiah Romo, Serrano football — Romo helped lead the Diamondbacks to the third victory of the season by accounting for four touchdowns in a 52-28 victory over Yucca Valley on Sept. 6. Romo threw scoring passes to Cade LaFever, Gilbert Vazquez and Jamal Larry and also ran one.
    • Jake Higgs, Apple Valley football — Higgs accounted for three touchdowns as the Sun Devils picked up their first victory of the season. The lefty completed 23 passes for 321 yards and two touchdowns. He also scrambled 10 times for 29 yards and a touchdown.

    • Karson Cox, Oak Hills football — Cox needed just two quarters in a 56-6 victory over Palmdale. Cox, who is committed to UCLA, ran for three touchdowns and also caught a touchdown pass from Jacob Webster.
    • Keonahi'ilani Solaita, Oak Hills volleyball — Solaita couldn't be stopped last week. In a 3-0 victory over Barstow on Sept. 3, Solaita led the way with 17 kills, three aces and 22 digs. In the Mojave River League opener on Sept. 45, Solaita spiked 34 kills with 25 digs and two aces to lead the Bulldogs to a 3-2 victory over Apple Valley.
    • Nikolas Blocker, Victor Valley football — Blocker was on fire in Victor Valley's victory over Twentynine Palms on Sept. 5. The game was called midway through the third quarter and Blocker ended with five catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns. He also took a carry for 28 yards.
    • Victoria Parra, Hesperia volleyball — Parra ended the week by being named the MVP in the Scorpion Classic tournament, hosted by Hesperia on Sept. 7. In a 2-0 victory over University Prep, Parra spiked eight kills with eight digs, and also served five aces with four kills and two digs as Hesperia beat Delphi Academy 2-0. Parra had five kills, an ace, a block, six digs and two assists in a 3-0 victory over Serrano on Sept. 5.

    Nominations must be received for consideration by Sunday morning following that week's games. Anyone can nominate an Athlete of the Week for every varsity sport.
