A road improvement project scheduled through December will affect traffic at various locations along Highway 395 in the High Desert.

Commuters will notice the beginning of slowdowns and road closures from Monday, Oct. 7 to Thursday, Oct. 17 on Highway 395 as crews continue to work in Adelanto, Hesperia, and Victorville.

Some projects include pavement upgrades, installing changeable message signs and upgrading facilities to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

The project, designed to refurbish existing roads, and enhance safety, and accessibility, is part of the $43 million roadway improvement project funded through Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.

    Highway 395 work schedule, closures

From Monday to Thursday, night work continues from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

On Sunday, Oct. 13, night work will last from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thur. Oct. 17.

Work will occur in Hesperia, between Joshua Street and Palmdale Road on Route Highway 395 and move northbound.

Motorists should expect nighttime lane closures with reverse traffic control at various areas on the route that may also require alternating lane closures.

Interstate 15 connector closures are taking place at night at the following locations:

    • Northbound I-15 to NB Highway 395
    • Southbound Highway 395 to SB I-15

A pilot car will escort motorists through the construction zone areas. Commuters should expect potential traffic delays with reverse lane and shoulder closures, alternating between both northbound and southbound directions.

Road users are reminded to reduce speed in the work zone and to be mindful the weather and other factors may affect the construction schedule.

    Road project funding, resources

Senate Bill 1 provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually split between the state and local agencies.

Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1.

Visit the Caltrans District 8's Facebook and Twitter accounts or the agency's website for additional updated information.

Motorists can plan commutes and view live traffic conditions and planned lane closures by using Caltrans' QuickMap.
