Wet pattern extends through the weekend
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A sun/cloud mix and mostly dry on Tuesday. Isolated showers pushed in from the south early evening with chances holding through midnight. More unsettled weather is on tap for the week. Rain chances ramp up tomorrow through Friday then trend downward over the weekend. Wednesday showers and storms become widely scattered during the afternoon and evening. Expect periods of heavy rain which may result in isolated flash flooding especially in low lying areas. Several inches of rain have fallen and with saturated soils additional rain may result in flash flooding.

Atlanta Braves Legend Otis Nixon to hold autograph signing in Statesboro
Former Atlanta Braves outfielder Otis Nixon is coming down to Statesboro for an autograph signing on July 27, 2024 starting at 11am. The event will take place at 8 East Olliff Street right behind the Dairy Queen. The event is hosted by Statesboro Sports and Memorabilia. Attendees will not only have the opportunity to meet the Atlanta legend, but will also be able to come home with some purchased items. Autographs from Nixon will cost $20 each. Prints authenticated by SSM will cost $15, while authentication for other items will cost $5 each. Nixon jerseys will also be on sale for $65 each. Nixon played with the Atlanta Braves from 1991-1993 and again in 1999. He was a key piece in the team's run to the World Series, where they ultimately lost to the New York Yankees. Girls rec stars win state championship
Jeff Davis Recreation Department’s 17 and under softball team defeated Lanier Lanier County 7-0 in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association state championship game. Jeff Davis started out strong in the first inning with a triple by Cori Mims, followed by a double from Ava Bohannon to give the Jackets a 1-0 lead. The ladies went on to add a run in the third after Mims doubled to bring in Jazmine Villasenor bringing the lead to 2-0. Jaqueline Villasenor earned the win for Jeff Davis, giving up 3 hits and 0 runs over 7 innings.
