With election season in full throttle, local residents may receive scam calls and messages asking about voter registration and requesting personal information. Here in Bulloch County, some residents are receiving phone calls stating that their registration has expired and then referring them to another number to call and text to be reinstated. Do not give them your information. While third-party organizations have access to some of your information, they don't have the most up-to-date sources and may not be acting in your best interest. "If you aren't sure about something, call us first so that we can verify and check if your voter registration is still current," said Joanne Nesmith, Clerk at Bulloch County's Elections and Voter Registration Office. The Humane Society of Statesboro Bulloch County (HSSBC) and Fixing the Boro were recently awarded a grant from the Georgia Department of Agriculture in the total of $40,000 for Bulloch County. Each grant was awarded separately, with HSSBC receiving $25,000 and Fixing the Boro receiving $15,000. The grant is part of the Dog and Cat Sterilization Grant Program, which provides financial assistance with sterilization procedures.
