CONCORDIA PARISH, La. (KTVE/KARD)– On June 23, 2024, the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a complaint made by a resident of the Sunshine Therapeutic Group Home, that a staff member had allegedly thrown her on the floor and held her down by her neck.

According to officers, they were dispatched to the Group Home to assist staff with residents who were in a physical altercation. During the time at the Group Home, CPSO deputies discovered that one of the children was allegedly assaulted by a staff member.

The child was taken to a local hospital for examination and treatment of her injuries. According to authorities, she was held in a safe location until the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services could take custody of the child and find a new placement for her.

Deputies obtained a warrant for 59-year-old Myra Williams, out of Vidalia, La. late last night for Cruelty to a Juvenile. According to reports, the Sunshine Therapeutic Group Home, located on Highway 84 between Vidalia and Ferriday, can house up to ten females between the ages of 12 and 17. The children living in the home are either in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Child and Family Services or the Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice.
