Syracuse leaders get drenched for ALS awareness
SYRACUSE N.Y. — The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge turns 10 years old this year and Syracuse leaders put their own spin on the challenge to raise funds and awareness for ALS. The ALS Association hosted more than 30 Syracuse political and business leaders on Thursday to get soaked in water at the Clinton Square fountain to demonstrate their commitment to fighting ALS, a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
Brady Market temporarily closes to explore new food models for community needs
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Brady Market will temporarily close on Thursday while ownership explores "different food models to more appropriately serve the community." The announcement was made on Facebook by Brady Social Enterprises, which owns the grocery store. Rome woman accused of causing more than $6,000 in damage to vehicle
ROME — A 32-year-old woman is accused of causing more than $6,000 in damage to her estranged husband's pickup truck, according to the Rome Police Department. Police said Nikki L. Marriott, of Sherrill, went to her estranged husband's workplace on Ellsworth Road in Rome at about 10:11 a.m. Wednesday and damaged his 2021 Dodge Ram pickup truck in the parking lot. Police said Marriott broke off both side mirrors and used them to beat multiple dents throughout the vehicle. Police said Marriott also used a hammer to damage the truck.
