NCDHHS launches Strategic Housing Plan to expand support for people with disabilities
RALEIGH — The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services recently launched the North Carolina Strategic Housing Plan to help maintain, increase and better utilize affordable supportive housing for people with disabilities across the state. This plan addresses housing needs for individuals with disabilities, including those who are currently receiving or eligible for NCDHHS-funded services as well as those who are experiencing homelessness, currently residing in congregate settings or at risk of entry into these settings.

Running of the Bulls Results: Hammers, No Heat, Rule the Morning
Saturday morning, for the first time in a while, Mother Nature didn’t turn the annual Running of the Bulls 5K into something akin to the Sweating of the Bulls. The always-in-August race and 1-mile fun run are held on the Big Cove Greenway, starting at Hampton Cove Middle School. Proceeds benefit the HCMS PTA, which has a solid turnout of volunteers to help with packet stuffing-pickup and on race day. The field always is large. This year saw 390 finishers in the 5K and 87 in the fun run.

The Carolina Pavilion shopping center in south Charlotte has a new owner.
