A school year is 180 days, with no two days and no two schools exactly alike. The students differ, the teachers differ, school cultures differ. Pelham high school and elementary students spent an afternoon building and launching water-propelled rockets at Hutchinson Elementary for the culmination of a yearlong initiative called Pelham Chases Space.

High schoolers in physics classes spent the year designing the rockets, with the goal of launching the rockets into the air and parachuting to the ground, then landing safely without breaking an egg that was the rocket's payload.

At the culminating event, the high school students worked with elementary school students, who got to make and launch their own rockets.
