Police investigating after shots fired incident in Sarasota
SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -The Sarasota Police Department is investigating an incident near the intersection of University and Desoto. The roadway was shut down near Airport Circle after reports of a shooting in the area. Officers managed to find shell casings but no one remained on scene so police have no victims. They are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward to detectives.

Naples man sentenced in 2022 DUI manslaughter case
FORT MYERS, Fla. — On Friday, a Naples man was sentenced to six years in prison for DUI manslaughter after a crash killed one and injured three others in Bonita Springs. James Nelligan, 39, reportedly crashed on Feb. 11, 2022, killing a 49-year-old New Jersey woman and leaving three others with minor injuries.

Fort Myers airport posts second-best June on record
Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers had its second-busiest June on record in the 42-year history of the airport, according to airport officials. In June, there were 696,867 passengers who traveled through the airport in Fort Myers. The highest passenger count on record for June was in 2021, when Southwest Florida International saw 839,377 passengers, according to the Lee County Port Authority.
