Police investigating after shots fired incident in Sarasota
SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -The Sarasota Police Department is investigating an incident near the intersection of University and Desoto. The roadway was shut down near Airport Circle after reports of a shooting in the area. Officers managed to find shell casings but no one remained on scene so police have no victims. They are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward to detectives.

July 19, 2024 - St. Petersburg-based Beachside Hospitality, which owns several Crabby’s restaurants throughout the state, is under contract to buy four Anna Maria Island concepts. The group plans to acquire Sandbar Seafood and Spirits, Beach House Waterfront Restaurant, Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant & Pub and Anna Maria Bake House from Chiles Hospitality. While Beachside operates 13 establishments in eight Florida cities, the acquisition of Chiles marks its first foray into Manatee County.

Beach Kids Receive $1,000 Scholarships
Thursday night The Beach Kids Foundation hosted their annual scholarship dinner at Bonita Bills. This year 20 beach kids received $1,000 scholarships. The brand new “Tom and Fran Scholarships” were introduced this year in honor of Tom Myers who recently passed away, and his wife Fran Myers. 2 of the 30 kids received an additional $1,000 scholarships, one in the name of Tom, the other in the name of Fran.
