Slash Brings his S.E.R.P.E.N.T Festival Tour to Astro

Slash is taking a page from the Clapton playbook and started his own blues festival, titled S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival aka Solidarity, Engagement, Restore, Peace, Equality, N’, Tolerance. Not many can say that, but Slash has had a long career and this was the perfect time to do this in between GNR and Conspirators recording and touring.
Iowa National Guard unit will return 150 soldiers back from Middle East deployment
On Friday, the Des Moines Airbase hosted a special “welcome home” ceremony for a group of National Guard soldiers returning from a year-long deployment in the Middle East. The federal government activated the 831st Engineer Vertical Construction Company (EVCC) to support U.S. Central Command in a territory encompassing 27 countries. This encompassed Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
Motorcycle Crash in Council Bluffs Claims One Life
(Council Bluffs) A motorcycle driver died from injuries suffered in a crash in Council Bluffs on Saturday. Council Bluffs Police say the accident happened around 3:04 p.m. at S. 17th and 2nd Avenue. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of a truck at the intersection. Council Bluffs Fire and Rescue, along with Council Bluffs Police, arrived at the location, and the driver of the motorcycle was transported to UNMC, where he has since passed away from the injuries he sustained from the accident. Authorities did not release the name.
Three People Arrested for Assault in Red Oak
(Red Oak) Three people face assault charges following an incident in Red Oak. According to the press release, the charges stem from an incident in the 1800 block of N. 4th Street on Saturday night. As a result of the investigation, Officers arrested 35-year-old Micaela Morales and 35-year-old Douglas Walter Penry, both from Stanton, and 40-year-old Arthur Finton McCarthy of Ankeny.

Omaha Police identify two killed in Sunday morning crash
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Two people were killed after a two-car accident early Sunday morning. The crash happened near Highway 275 and Pawnee Road shortly after 2:30 a.m. A release said that a Nissan Kicks was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes, where it collided into a Volvo XC90 headed southbound.

The 4-H/FFA Beef Show begins at 8:00 a.m., the Baby Contest is at 9:00 a.m., Supreme Showmanship is at 12:00 p.m., Judging of the Baked Apple Pie Contest will take place from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. with a free pie/ice cream social at the Fairgrounds Auditorium from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m..
