Ohio’s casinos, racinos report uptick in May gambling revenue
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Ohio’s casinos and racinos saw an uptick in gambling revenue and had their best May since 2021. The state’s 11 casinos and racinos brought in a combined $204 million in May, up from $196 million in 2023 and $202 million in 2022. The record for the month was set in 2021, at $209 million, according to data from the Ohio casino control and lottery commissions.

Cumberland VFD receives LUCAS device
The Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department and EMS squad received a new LUCAS device by way of a grant through the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation. The device provides mechanical chest compressions to patients in cardiac arrest. It has been shown to provide consistent quality chest compressions during resuscitation attempts, create life-sustaining perfusion of the patient's brain and heart and create good neurological outcomes. Members of the departments will be trained to use the device by Stryker, a medical device and equipment manufacturer. LANCASTER – As a head coach of field hockey and softball at Lancaster, Allie Kinniard has had ultra-success, especially with the Lady Gales’ softball team. In three years, she has compiled an overall record of 75-12, including this past season when she led Lancaster to a 28-4 mark, a third straight Ohio Capital Conference title, and the Gales won the Central District Division I district championship for the second time in the last three years. She also led the Fairfield Union softball team to a Final Four berth in 2018.
