VINITA, Okla. (KOAM) — Multiple fire departments responded to assist Vinita Fire Dept Friday afternoon to a multi-unit structure fire at Burroughs Manor Senior Living Apartments, 111 South Thompson St.

Nearby Big Cabin Fire responded as mutual aid stating, “ We are currently on the scene of a fully engulfed fire with entrapment along with other area fire departments.

They shared a short video clip via Shelby Manners of flames spewing from the top of the 3-story building.

“The great news is that there was no loss of human life. I would call that a miracle,” Mayor Josh Lee said in a statement.

Vinita Police Department and Craig County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the fire. It’s been said an arrest has been made but no formal charges are filed.

A GFM that benefits Burroughs Manor Inc is being circulated by media has thousands of dollars donated thus far:

Today in Vinita more than 45 senior citizens lost their home as the Burroughs Manor Apartments burned. The vast majority of the residents living there are senior citizens with limited resources to help with relocation. Many residents lost everything: clothing, furniture, medications and even pets .”
