The distraught grandmother of a young boy found dead and his little one-year-old sibling discovered crawling along a motorway , has given an emotional interview after the shocking event.

Having disappeared for two days, Kingtrail Jack, who is just a year old, has been dubbed as a 'miracle baby' having survived amidst the chaos caused by the severe storms of Hurricane Beryl earlier this week.

Four year old Legend, brother to Kingtrail, was tragically found lifeless behind a I-10 welcome centre near Vinton, Louisiana , on Tuesday 9 July. That evening, their mum, Aaliyah Jack, aged 25, was taken into custody in Meridian, Mississippi, about 350 miles away from where her children had been located.

Grandmother Conswella Jack, who resides in Lake Charles and had been assisting in taking care of the young boys, struggles with understanding how her own daughter could harm the children.

Overwhelmed with emotion, she expressed to The Acadiana Advocate: "I was so blessed to hear the baby survived but also so hurt because one is now gone."

She admitted that her daughter was going through tough times and both herself and the sons' paternal grandmother had stepped up to assist.

On Saturday, Conswella met Aaliyah, who was in Lafayette attending the funeral of Conswella Jack's mother, planning to spend some quality time with the small boys when, sadly, Aaliyah absconded with the children.

Conswella revealed: "The next day, which was Sunday, after trying to call her, she finally reaches out to me, but it's a text. She sent me a picture of a car in some bushes that kind of looked like it was wrecked. I was confused, so I called, called and called, and could not reach her."

On Monday morning, the tragic discovery of Legend's body was made, with police stating there were no clear signs of foul play. Following this grim discovery, the search for one year old Kingtrail became even more urgent.

The toddler was reportedly found crawling along the side of a highway by a lorry driver, who immediately contacted the authorities upon spotting the child.

In an emotional statement, Guillory told reporters, "We look at this 1-year-old as our miracle baby because he was still alive."

He later added, "This kid spent two days out in the weather on the side of the highway. Thank God that trucker seen him."

Aaliyah was eventually located hundreds of miles away in Meridian, Mississippi, and was arrested on a charge of failure to report a missing child. The desperate search for the child took place amidst the chaos of Hurricane Beryl, which hit the eastern part of Texas early on Monday, bringing heavy rain and high-speed wind gusts to the area.

"This kid spent two days out in the weather, on the side of the highway. ... When you look at the video, here he was, crawling toward the highway," Guillory said. Aaliyah Jack has no criminal history, according to Guillory and Calcasieu Parish court records.

Conswella had been caring for the children even though Aaliyah still had legal custody. They had an informal understanding that Conswella would look after the kids until Aaliyah could get back on her feet.

Now dealing with the heartbreaking loss, Conswella expressed: "I just buried my mother, and now my grandson? And he's only 4 years old. Legend was so sweet and just lovable."

She continued: "Now I have to fight for my grandson. It's stressful because they're gonna put me through all what I'm about to go through just to get him back. I don't even have the funds for it, so I have to do everything I can to get that baby back, because ain't nobody know him like we know him."

The results of an autopsy on Legend will guide further action in the legal case against Aaliyah.
