Packers Have Two Major Questions Ahead of Vikings’ Game

The Green Bay Packers have listed quarterback Jordan Love and cornerback Jaire Alexander as questionable for Sunday’s pivotal game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Both players have been dealing with injuries, and their availability could significantly influence the outcome of this crucial Week 4 NFC North matchup.

Love practiced in a limited capacity throughout the week, suggesting that he may be able to make his return to the field on Sunday. However, his availability will largely depend on how his knee feels during warmups before the game.

If Love suits up, he may not be at full strength, which could impact his mobility and overall effectiveness. If he is unable to go, Malik Willis would once again step in as the starter, as he has for the past two games.

The decision to list Love as questionable seems to be a strategic move by the Packers, forcing the Vikings to prepare for both possible starting quarterbacks. This uncertainty may give Green Bay a slight advantage in keeping Minnesota’s defense guessing.

Last season, Love had a mixed bag of performances against the Vikings—he struggled at Lambeau Field, throwing for just 229 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a 24-10 loss. However, he showed marked improvement later in the season with a solid outing at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Jaire Alexander’s status is more concerning for the Packers. The star cornerback was limited in practice early in the week but missed Friday’s session, casting serious doubt on his availability for Sunday’s game.

Should Alexander be unable to play, it would mark the third consecutive meeting between these two teams without the much-anticipated matchup between Alexander and Minnesota’s star receiver, Justin Jefferson.

Without Alexander, Green Bay’s secondary will rely on Eric Stokes, Corey Ballentine, and Keisean Nixon to contain Minnesota’s dynamic passing attack. This trio faces a tall order in covering Jefferson, as well as the talented duo of Jordan Addison and Jalen Nailor.

If Alexander is sidelined, the advantage swings decidedly in favor of the Vikings’ receiving corps, who will look to exploit the Packers’ depleted secondary.

On the other side of the field, the Vikings have been relatively fortunate with injuries this week. The only player ruled out for Sunday’s game is linebacker Ivan Pace Jr.

While Pace’s absence will be felt, the Vikings’ defense remains largely intact as they prepare to face either an injured Love or the more mobile Malik Willis.

The official inactive lists will be released at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, providing clarity on whether Love and Alexander will be able to suit up. Until then, both teams will continue to prepare for a range of scenarios, knowing that the availability of these key players could make all the difference.

With the Packers trying to keep their playoff hopes alive and the Vikings pushing to maintain their divisional lead, the stakes are high.

Jordan Love’s knee and Jaire Alexander’s groin may well hold the keys to determining who comes out on top in this NFC North clash.
