    National Night Out 2024 in Virginia Beach brings together community and officers

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The National Night Out 2024 event in Virginia Beach is being hosted in honor of local law enforcement on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

    The event is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. at the Christian Church Uniting: 6049 Indian River Rd., Virginia Beach, Va. 23464.

    Shana Turner, founder of Hampton Roads Mothers Against Senseless Killings (HR MASK) and regional lead for Voices of Black Mothers United (VBMU), will be in attendance. Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate, Lieutenant Matthew Schmitt, Major Crimes Division and the Newport News Police Department are also expected to attend.

    This event is designed to help build relationships between police officers and the communities they serve.

    National Night Out is held each year on the first Tuesday in August.
