If you're on the hunt for authentic Chinese cuisine, Sichuan Legend in Fairfax is a spot you'll want to bookmark. I recently ventured into this establishment and was greeted by a warm and candid staff member who guided me through the menu. Opting for signature dishes, I was impressed by the well-prepared meals with fresh ingredients and generous portions. The Mao cai stood out with its abundance, and while the fermented rice dumplings were a miss due to their weak flavor, the tomato beef brisket noodles, despite being slightly overcooked, were a hit with the kids.
My fellow diners and I dove into an array of dishes, with the fatty beef and shrimp paste leaving a lasting impression. The beef was rich and tender, and the shrimp paste added a unique savory kick. The tomato soup was a refreshing tangy delight, and the pork bone was so tender it fell right off the bone. We washed it all down with herbal tea, which I found to be the perfect accompaniment to the spicy Sichuan flavors.
The ambiance of the restaurant, with its clean and tasteful decor, made the dining experience even more enjoyable. While there were some hiccups with the lunch specials and a few dishes didn't hit the mark, the overall quality and service were excellent. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to explore more of what Sichuan Legend has to offer.
